About

Mwata Belgrave

My career has taken me from project engineering to operations leadership. I now work independently with management teams on the decisions that connect business direction, people and delivery.

For more than fourteen years I worked at an offshore energy engineering company, moving through project and management roles. From 2015 to 2022 I was Director of Operations on the executive management team, responsible for the technical, projects and project services departments. In that time I led three ERP implementations on the business side. Two went live. The third was halted shortly before go-live when the company was sold.

I have worked independently since 2022 and am now based in Portugal, supporting clients across Europe in English and Dutch. My advisory work includes supporting the management team of that same company.

That operational background shapes how I work: understand the situation, make the choices clear and help the people responsible carry them through.

Expertise

What the career built.

Each area below comes from work I did in a role, and the evidence is next to it.

  • Project control and reportingAs Director of Operations I built the operational control framework: KPIs, planning and reporting routines. As an advisor I introduced a weekly cycle of forecast reviews, burn tracking and peer reviews, which gave the executive board an earlier view of project outcomes.
  • Governance and management of changeI redesigned the management of change process and the authorisation matrix, with clear approval thresholds for client and internal changes.
  • Strategy and organisationI directed a strategy and improvement programme with management and the executive board: a revised business plan, departmental plans and a structure for three product lines.
  • Budgets and capacityI owned operational budgets, reviewed project financials every month and matched engineering capacity to project and tender demand.
  • Commercial strategy and proposalsAs right hand to the managing director I co-led a new sales strategy and the reorganisation of the sales team. Later I designed pricing models for a strategic partnership and standardised proposals into reusable frameworks.
  • ERP and business systemsI led three ERP implementations on the business side, and ran a gate-based selection of a document management system against more than 18 criteria.
  • Quality, processes and management systemsI ran a Lean Six Sigma programme and achieved ISO 9001 certification at a software company, then mapped QHSE processes and delivered procedures for an integrated management system (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and VCA) at an offshore wind steel manufacturer.
  • Leading and coaching management teamsI coached a newly appointed management team, onboarded an incoming Manager Operations, and coached the operations managers of group companies every week.
